BSNL or Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is the oldest and one of the largest telecom operator in India. It is state-owned company which provides various types of services ranging from cellular, fixed telephony to broadband and enterprise-level solutions. It runs India’s largest network of landline services. It is pan-India operator barring the metropolitan cities of Mumbai and New Delhi (MTNL operates there).

Wireless 3G, FTTH, Wi-max, IPTV, WLL-CDMA, GSM network services are few of the many products and services BSNL offer. BSNL Mobile subsidiary of BSNL handles all mobile-related services including its 2G and 3G network. BSNL is the first operator to bring 3G in most parts of India. With 3G, users are able to avail fast internet speed. In the beginning BSNL offered speeds upto 3.6 mbps only but now they’re upgrading their network and infrastructure to offer greater 3G speeds at affordable rates. It also offers cheap 3G video calling unlike other private telecom networks.

Being a government-owned company, the growth of BSNL has not been at rewarding rate. Instead it is suffering from several problems and facing stiff competitions from private players resulting in substantial loss in revenue.

BSNL has also launched BSNL Penta Tablets. It also provides 3g usb dongles for connection internet on pc and laptops. Several VAS services are provided to its customers including prepaid as well as postpaid subscribers. One advantage is there in case of BSNL that it doesn’t do unsolicited automatic activation of VAS unlike in case of private operators. But, the network quality is poor in BSNL. Most of the times, users face issues like call-drop or connection not available or line busy.
